PoolLog (“the App”) is published by Rimants (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what information the App handles, what leaves your device, and the choices you have. It applies to the iOS app and this website at poollog.rimants.com.
Short version
- No account. No ads. No sale of personal data.
- Your pool tests, doses, and backups stay on your device (and optionally your private iCloud).
- Optional anonymous product analytics (PostHog, EU) can be turned off in one tap.
- Purchases go through Apple. We never see your payment card.
1. Who we are
Operator: Rimants

2. Data that stays on your device
PoolLog stores pool configuration, water-test readings, dose logs, reminder preferences, snapshots, and export files in a local SQLite database on your iPhone. This chemistry and history data is not uploaded to Rimants servers — we do not operate an application backend for pool data.
If you enable iCloud Sync in the App, that data syncs through your Apple iCloud account (CloudKit private database). Apple processes that sync under Apple’s privacy policy. We cannot read your private CloudKit contents.
Widgets read a small summary (pool name, last test date, last FC/pH) via an App Group on device only.
3. Data we may collect (analytics)
If analytics is enabled, the App may send anonymous product-interaction events to PostHog
(hosted in the EU at eu.i.posthog.com) so we can understand whether the core
loop works — for example: first verdict, test saved, paywall viewed, purchase completed,
export tapped, restore screen visited. Events may include coarse properties such as
approximate entry duration in seconds. We do not send pool names, readings,
notes, photos, or backup contents to analytics.
Analytics is on by default when a PostHog project token is configured in a release build, and is opt-out: Settings → Privacy → turn off “Share anonymous usage analytics.” When off, nothing is sent. Builds without a token never start analytics.
We do not use analytics for cross-app tracking, advertising, or data brokerage. We do not call Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework because we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising.
PostHog acts as our processor for these events. See posthog.com/privacy.
4. Purchases
The optional Lifetime unlock is a non-consumable In-App Purchase processed by Apple. Apple handles payment, receipts, and restore. We receive entitlement status through StoreKit (whether Lifetime is unlocked) and do not receive your full payment card details.
5. Notifications
Test reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. They require your permission via iOS. We do not use a push-notification server.
6. This website
The marketing site at poollog.rimants.com is a static site served via Cloudflare. Standard server and CDN logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) may be processed by Cloudflare to operate the network and protect against abuse. We do not run advertising pixels or third-party marketing trackers on this site.
7. Children
PoolLog is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Retention & deletion
- On-device data: Delete the App to remove local data. Exports and backups you saved elsewhere remain under your control.
- iCloud: Manage or delete CloudKit data via your Apple ID / iCloud settings.
- Analytics: Opt out anytime in Settings. Aggregate analytics are retained only as long as useful for product improvement, then deleted or anonymized further.
To request deletion of any analytics data associated with your device that we can identify, email [email protected].
9. Your choices
- Disable analytics in the App (Settings → Privacy).
- Leave iCloud Sync off (default until you enable it).
- Deny notification permission; the App still works.
- Export or delete your data from within the App.
10. International users
Analytics, when enabled, is processed in the European Union (PostHog EU cloud). Cloudflare may process website request logs in multiple regions as part of its global network.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Material changes will be reflected in the App Store privacy details where required.
